Welcome to KC-LSP, a Library Service Program offered by the Kansas City Public Library.

Formed in 1991, the (then named) Kansas City Library Consortium was created to provide easy access to information, share resources and improve customer service in an economical fashion.

Starting with the Kansas City Public Library and seven local college and university libraries, KCLC secured grant funding to help with start-up costs and keep entrance fees low. Since that time, KCLC has grown to 24 members and is currently expanding regionally. In 2008 A Strategic Plan was drawn up and it was decided to change the name to Kansas City - Library Service Program, KC-LSP. We are currently in transition, changing the name on all documentation.

Members include school, public, academic and special libraries. Their current combined bibliographic database contains over 2.4 million items, plus online access to indexes, journals and a wide variety of other resources via the Internet.

Through cooperative efforts of the members and a self-imposed fee structure. KC-LSP has assisted all members in upgrading telecommunications and workstations to enable operation in a true client server environment. In addition, members have been provided group access to commercial databases.
